Introducing Diane Patrick, First Lady of Massachusetts

First Lady Diane Patrick brings her experience as a teacher, lawyer, mother, and active member of her community to Leadership. She is a practicing lawyer, specializing in labor and employment law, with the firm Ropes & Gray in Boston. Earlier, she held positions at Harvard University, first as University Attorney in the Office of General Counsel, and then as Harvard's Director/Associate Vice President for Human Resources. Before attending law school, Mrs. Patrick spent 5 years teaching elementary school in New York City.

Throughout her life and professional career, Mrs. Patrick has dedicated herself to various communities, serving as a volunteer member of the Commonwealth's Foster Care Review Unit, as President of the Board of the Brookline Infant Toddler Center, as Trustee and Director for Arts Boston, as Trustee for the Brigham & Woman's Hospital, and as Overseer at Children's Hospital Boston, among others. She will work closely with the Governor on early education and domestic violence issues. She believes in the power of early-start education for pre-K and kindergarten children.

Mrs. Patrick received her BA in early childhood education with honors from Queens College of the City University of New York. She holds a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, where her exemplary academic performance and public service won her an American Jurisprudence Award and the school's Outstanding Graduate Award. She and Governor Deval Patrick have two college-age daughters.
