Introducing Nancy Schweitzer, First Lady of Montana

First Lady Nancy Schweitzer joined Leadership in April 2005. She brings her concern for children to the initiative, having volunteered in schools and church youth classes for many years. Her other initiatives as First Lady include preventive health care, promotion of local artisans, and native plant beautification projects.

Mrs. Schweitzer and her husband have worked in irrigation development since the early 1980’s, a career that has taken them to Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America. They spent 7 years in Saudi Arabia, where the governor developed more than 28,000 acres of irrigated cropland. When they returned to Montana, the Schweitzers started a ranching and irrigation business. The family has been involved in numerous agricultural projects in Montana and abroad since that time.

Mrs. Schweitzer was raised Billings and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Botany with honors from Montana University. She and her husband have three children.
