 Ohio, Frances Strickland

 PRIMERA DAMA DE OHIO
FRANCES STRICKLAND

Introduciendo a Frances Strickland, Primera Dama de Ohio

First Lady Frances Strickland brings to Leadership years of dedication to children’s education. An educational psychologist, she developed a widely used screening test for kindergarten-age children and also authored a children’s book, The Little Girl Who Grew Up To Be Governor.

Known for her creativity and enthusiasm in her work on behalf of Ohio, both as a congressman’s spouse and now as First Lady, Mrs. Strickland even brings out her guitar at events and leads the crowd in a sing-along. Her husband, Governor Ted Strickland, served 12 years in the U.S. Congress.

Mrs. Strickland was born in Simpsonville, Kentucky, where she grew up on a dairy farm. She attended Murray State University and the University of Colorado, and holds a doctorate in educational psychology from the University of Kentucky.

Spouses of Governors who have completed their terms in their State houses are able to continue their work to prevent childhood drinking as members of the Leadership To Keep Children Alcohol Free Emeritus Group.  Click here for information on the Emeritus Group and a complete list of members.
